On November 23, at the seminar prediction markets of furniture in Italy and in the world in 2013, the center of economic research CSIL presented the “Forecast Report on the furniture industry in Italy,” which provides an updated and detailed in the furniture industry and its prospects.
According to the report submitted by CSIL, 2012 is closing with an internal market in great suffering and exports that can continue to grow and especially on the more distant markets. The increase in sales is not enough to prevent a further decline of production in 2011-12 is around 11% at constant prices.
2013 will be another difficult year for the industry of furniture in Italy. The growth of international trade and the recession in Italy will result in a decrease in the production of furniture by 3% at constant prices. This value is explained both by foreign demand limited by the performance of major trading partners and the continued weakness in domestic consumption (-6%), held on the performance of employment, disposable income and a picture of the situation of households the cautious.
With regard to exports, in 2013 we expect a growth of 1% at constant prices.
In 2014, with a stronger growth in international trade, it is expected a higher foreign demand for the sector and domestic demand will begin to show signs of recovery, but this does not result in an increase of the internal market for the year .
In the period 2014-2015 the Italian economy will start growing at a rate around 1, 3% – 1.6% driven by domestic demand. The resumption of growth in disposable income (+1.2% at constant prices), supported by the end of the fall in employment (0.4%) will improve the confidence of families. This will mean then for the furniture industry in a recovery of the internal market finally in 2015 to record a positive growth rate.
