Knoll’s extensive research debunked the commonly held belief that there is just one optimal way to sit at work. Today’s offices have to satisfy many generations and work styles. Offices aren’t just about fixed desks but different spaces for meeting, brainstorming and collaborating. Your chair should accommodate all these work activities throughout a normal working day.
The innovative design takes materials which have a proven track record in other industries and uses them in completely new ways. For example, the high-performance elastomer used in the chair’s distinctive Flex Back Net is traditionally used in dishwasher hinges and ski-boot straps. This material gives Generation by Knoll its pioneering supportive back which literally flexes as you shift position, responding to the movements of the user.

Sustainability is core to Knoll’s design ethos and the chair has been created with its environmental impact front of mind. As a result, it has been constructed with as little material as possible - the entire chair weighs just less than 16.8 kilograms with the plastic base.
Generation by Knoll is the first chair in the industry to have been rated SMaRT(C) Sustainable Platinum.
